I support returning Cecil Field to the Navy as a master jet base.
My support of the Navy has not changed since this opportunity was presented to us by the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission.
I continue to believe that our community, state and nation will be better served by Cecil Field being returned as a master jet base.
I regret that our local elected officials did not fully investigate all of the ramifications of this important issue prior to withdrawing support of the Navy in October 2005.
The confusion that has been introduced into the discussion related to the ballot initiative should have been explored fully last year.
It is in the best economic interest to our community and state and in the best military interest for our nation that Cecil Field is returned as a master jet base.
